Transmission Diagnostics Specialist Full Time

ABOUT THE ROLE

Wakefield Transmission & Auto is seeking a senior-level Transmission Diagnostics Specialist to lead diagnostic evaluation across our rebuild and repair operation. This role requires mastery of hydraulic, electronic, and mechanical failure diagnosis — with the precision to deliver accurate root-cause findings that drive repair decisions and control costs.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Road testing, line pressure testing, stall speed analysis, and electronic control system interrogation
Interpret live scan data, fault codes, and solenoid performance metrics using professional-grade tools
Differentiate accurately between hydraulic circuit, mechanical, and electronic control failures
Produce precise diagnostic reports with root cause identification and recommended repair scope
Brief rebuild technicians on diagnostic findings to ensure accurate repair execution
Maintain current knowledge across domestic and import platforms including late-model electronic and CVT systems

QUALIFICATIONS

5+ years of professional transmission or advanced drivetrain diagnostic experience required
Advanced proficiency with Snap-on, Autel, Launch, or equivalent scan platforms
Comprehensive knowledge of automatic transmission hydraulics, clutch apply logic, and electronic control architecture
Hands-on experience with line pressure, governor analysis, stall speed, and solenoid diagnostics
ASE A2, T-Series, or ATD certification required; additional manufacturer certifications preferred
Able to document findings precisely and communicate clearly to technical and non-technical staff
Valid driver’s license required
