Transmission Building Apprentice Full Time

ABOUT THE ROLE

FNA transmission-exclusive specialty facility serving the greater Boston area. We are seeking a Transmission Building Apprentice to work directly alongside certified specialists on full rebuild operations  teardown through final assembly. This role is for candidates who intend to develop deep technical expertise, not generalist shop experience.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Disassemble, clean, inspect, and reassemble automatic and manual transmission units under supervision
Identify worn and failed components across clutch packs, valve bodies, gear sets, and sealing systems
Operate hydraulic presses, torque wrenches, and precision measuring instruments
Maintain parts organization, inventory documentation, and shop standards
Progressively assume independent build responsibilities as proficiency is verified

QUALIFICATIONS

Hands-on mechanical experience — engines, drivetrain, or precision machinery preferred
Ability to execute detailed technical procedures accurately and consistently
Vocational / trade coursework in automotive or mechanical discipline advantageous
Punctual, reliable, and accountable
Valid driver’s license required

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

$23 – $26 / hr  per hour
